SIM 200 Autopilot Simulator - CF-100 Air Conditionning System

Aircom SIM 200 Autopilot Simulator

The SIM 200 simulator was designed and produced by the Aircom company, then established in Dorval Quebec. It is made up of components from the Bendix King KFC200 dual-axis (roll and pitch) autopilot system.

A mobile model of an aircraft, on which an artificial horizon has been installed, allows the attitude of the aircraft to be visualized. A vacuum pump creates the required air depression to drive the gysroscope of this artificial horizon. This can be checked on a small instrument placed at the bottom of the cart.

The aicraft model moves thanks to a set of small ropes and pulleys driven by the three servos of the autopilot.

The simulator housing itself is placed on the central platform of the cart. This allows to simulate different flight parameters while taking electrical measurements on the system in order to understand the operation of the autopilot.

The MAQ's Aircom SIM 200 simulator was donated by the École nationale d'aérotechnique in Saint-Hubert, QC. It is currently being restored to working order as part of student activities at the school.
